           There is a lot of Science in the Science of Enlightened Golf. It is important to note that the definition of a ‘science’ is simply  “Systematized knowledge, or information, about a certain subject…”  Not only is Enlightened Golf based on some very powerful scientific research and findings, but Enlightened Golf is, itself, the systematization of information derived from the areas listed above, for the specific purpose of creating a comprehensive performance system.

           Consider that when you have your computer serviced because it is performing poorly, or slower than you would like, the ‘fix’ typically involves addressing ‘software’ and ‘hardware,’ or basically, the Machine, and the Programming. Oftentimes, the guy at the computer store can repair components AND add & remove programming and software; when it comes to you, your body, and its programming, however, there has never really been “One-stop shopping”— until now.

           Enlightened Golf addresses your performance – in any area of life – with a simple process designed to RESET your Performance Pathway and Default settings.


The Performance Pathway:
The Club-bone is connected to the Head-bone…”

           The basis of the Enlightened Golf program is the discovery of the ‘Performance Pathway,’ or the pathology of every action and experience in your life. We can now map out what great players have always known intuitively: “Golf is a mental game.”

           It is easy to think it is physical; I mean, you do ‘swing’ a club and ‘hit’ a ball, after all. But when you have mapped out the Performance Pathway in your own mind, you will see that even the most ‘physical’ event is simply an expression of mind, and there is no physical activity which isn’t supported by mental activity.

           The Performance Pathway is the same pathway used by the stress response, which is often referred to as the H-P-A Axis – which is an incomplete view of the performance pathway with an emphasis on key elements of  the stress response.  All activity is caused by, and causes, stress of some sort.

           All things begin in the Mind.  Thoughts in the Mind often enter our awareness; when one does, electrical activity is generated in the Brain. The electrical activity in the Brain proceeds through the Nervous System ultimately stimulating Endocrine glands to release certain Hormones.  Hormones, or peptides, traveling through the Bloodstream, act on the receptor sites on the surface of each of your 30-50 trillion cells – causing them to change shape, activity, and even function.

           When your cells change shape collectively, this appears as ‘movement,’ or activity.  This activity isn’t random; it always matches the ‘intention’ behind the thought which generated the creation and release of electrical and chemical energy within your body. The only thing ‘random’ about this process, so far, has been science’s way of looking at this activity as if it is chaotic; the fact is that this activity is highly coordinated.

           Even the act of observing this process scientifically involves the use of the Performance Pathway: A scientist wants to know how we ‘work,’ so he puts his attention on a specific area of thought and NEW ideas come to him as to what experimental actions to perform and what NEW things to look for.  The scientist then assigns ‘meaning’ to his findings, but rarely do these guys observe the activities of the MIND with which they ‘thought-up’ all of their great and highly-scientific ideas.

           The Performance Pathway has also been called the Mind-Body connection; but a more accurate description would include several more ‘waypoints:’

Brain

Nervous System

Endocrine System

Circulatory System

Organic & Musculoskeletal Systems

 Action, Behavior, Movement, Experience

           At every step of this Pathway, Energy (E) is being received, processed (transformed), and transmitted to the next step along the pathway.  There is no exception to this pathway; all sickness and health, failure and success, and all experience (good or bad), happens via this pathway and process. The term ‘Psycho-Somatic’ illness was another early description of this pathway; in these terms, ‘Somatic,’ which refers to the body (Soma), encompasses all the body parts in the Performance Pathway – Brain, Nervous System, Endocrines, Circulatory System, Organic Systems, Muscles and Bones.  The word ‘Psychosomatic’ simply means ‘Mind-Body;’ the ancient Greeks divided the Human into three distinct parts – Mind (Psyche), Body (Soma), and Spirit (Pneuma). It has always been known – in all cultures and religious traditions – Spirit does not get ‘sick,’ and It does not experience ‘failure.’  Spirit is simply the Life, or Energy, which flows into and through the body as directed by the Mind.

           Look at it this way: In golf, your goal is to move a ball from a tee, into a hole, using the least possible Energy; this process requires efficiency – not wasted energy. For the ball to move, the club must strike it; the ball will then move according to the directions transmitted to it by the club-face.  For a swing to produce the ball-travel you desire, there are many criteria which must be met – grip, stance, focus, relaxation, etc…

           It is the hands which ‘swing’ the club, and the arms which ‘swing’ the hands; obviously, it is the body which positions the arms and eyes – which must all be in direct relationship with the ball in order to produce the desired results. It is the Nervous System and Brain which process visual information about our target (the ball) and its target (the hole); it is also the Brain and Nervous System which activate the ‘swing’ mechanism – the arms which swing the club.

           You may want to swing without ‘thinking’ about it, but some part of you must dispatch the exact mixture of chemical and electrical energy – to the exact location it is needed – in order to produce the movement you desire.  That ‘part of you’ which dispatches this information is the Brain, and it does this under the direction of Mind, and via the pathway outlined above.

           This is the way it works.  It doesn’t work any other way.  You can look at every part of your life, and plug in the successes and failures, and you will see that this is the only ‘model’ which supports both realities – success and failure. Though this all seems new where science is concerned, it isn’t new at all. Quantum Physicists began pointing out these things over a hundred-years ago; and Philosophers, Teachers, and Healers, have told us for thousands of years:  “As a man thinketh, so is it done unto him…”  Now we know the rest of the story.

Addressing and Fine-tuning the Performance Pathway

           When the human is viewed as Mental/Physical/Spiritual, or Mind-Body-Spirit, problems may be addressed at the ‘Mental-level,’ at the ‘Physical-level,’ or at the ‘Spiritual-level.’ By observing the path Energy travels through the body, we can address the Energy itself as it works its way through the body. The RESET process gives us the system and tools to address the Performance Pathway at a Psychological level, or at any level of the Body’s energy-processing systems: The neurology, endocrinology, and even at grosser levels of human physiology.  To create effective, lasting change, however, requires a change at the level of Mind. Change your Mind (thoughts) and the rest will unfold naturally.  A focused and efficient mind = A focused and efficient body.

             By using the tools of the RESET process, problematic thought processes can be interrupted (mechanically) by rubbing, touching, tapping, or otherwise stimulating, specific points along the Energy pathways of the body – before they become manifest as some behavior or symptom.  Other RESET tools allow you to replace ‘faulty’ programming (thoughts which have not produced success, or the performance you seek) with programming, or information, which is better suited to produce the outcomes you desire. It seems complicated at first; and then it seems too simple to work.  The fact is that the science can be complicated and confusing; but these complicated sciences have given us some very easy-to-use tools and techniques – and the end results speak for themselves. Anyone with a body and Mind can quickly learn how they work, how they work together, and how they are supposed to work FOR you to take you from where you are to where you wish to be.
